This evening while Grace was dining after her agility class, I had Bern retrieve his dumbbell (he picks it up and holds it until I take it). Well... he got excited and actually walked with it to me. Yeah! So we tried it again...but he returned to his frozen statue mode. Oh well, "when pigs fly" he will learn to retrieve. Perhaps I try to reinforce my taking the dumbbell with a clicker to encourage him to get the dumbbell to me quicker?
Bern ran slow at his agility class last night. We just didn't seem to be team. I'm still recovering from my headcold/sinus infection so I'm thinking in slow motion. Thank goodness I feeling much better today. I was so out of it last night that Tracey finally took him on one course and managed a nice run out of him. She will run him at the LCCOC trial on Sunday morning. If he weaves, she has a good chance of getting him to Q.
Grace practiced various obstacles at the agility field before Bern's class on Tuesday and then Grace and I are a single dog class on Wednesday (until next week when the new class cycle starts). We worked weaves and then other obstacle(s), then back to the weaves, etc. It really helped her weaves. I closed up the channel to about 4" wide this evening and her accuracy is still good. At the end of the evening, I showed her a set of 6 pole competition weaves and asked her to weave - she walked along side them happily but no weaving happening, she isn't making the connection from the open channel to the straight line set of poles yet. I still think we are only a few weeks away from the weave lightbulb snapping on!
