I've been less than faithful at keeping the blog up this week. Tuesday I skipped agility class with Bern. My back was not feeling up to it after all the bell ringing on Sunday. My plan was to work them both at the field on Wednesday was rained out... torrential rains with lots of wind and power outages. Luckily the house was fine. Three more eucalyptus trees and part of a smaller cottonwood went down at the Combustion site. Slowly but surely we are loosing the eucs to storms... the majority were lost to Katrina and Rita but the remaining ones are not proving to be all sturdy in a strong wind.
Thursday night we did manage to make both obedience classes. Grace did great on a locomotion rally course (all moving signs, no stationary signs). Since there weren't any stationary signs I switched out dogs and had Bern do it off lead. It went great after he the first few signs since we were stopping he caught up and stayed in heal the rest of the course.
Bern than went to Novice class. We substituted Open or Exec exercises for Novice where possible... except for the recall. I need to work his moving down this week too. My plan is to do some obedience every morning. Hopefully I can keep doing my exercise tape and work the obedience in too.
Next weekend is the obedience trial... Bern is not ready but he is only entered in wildcard Grace can probably pass to get her RN but her scores will not be high. I'm good with that though since I haven't been drilling her on the obedience much. She will be on lead and I can encourage her the whole way through.
I'll try and get the weekend started off right by working obedience today. It is cooler outside and feels nice now.
