Hail Mary...Grace's turn

Today Janet, the girls and I spent the day in downtown BTR at the LASM and planetarium. Next we walked to the Shaw Center then back to the parked car. The planetarium show was titled Digital Universe - a 3D mapped tour of near and far galaxies. This was the first planetarium experience for the girls and both enjoyed the show. The main art gallery was in rollover mode to a new Jim Henson exhibit thus significantly cutting the viewable square footage of the museum.

Grace and I started class tonight with Oreo & Lisa, Zing & Georgie, and Jessie & Nedra. We are all jumping 20" so we have no bar reset time. We worked the easier course patterns for the Hail Mary layout that we used for Tuesday night class. Grace is fast but not taking direction well. She struggled mightily to stay on the outside of a wide 270 degree turn on the box exterior. I need to work single jump control with a target and a "to hand" treated return. Her classmates are weaving almost closed poles... Grace demonstrated her open channel efforts. Nedra has a new plan. Since our current plan is not going well we will give Nedra's plan a chance.

Our new weave pole training plan involves a short leash and the dog driving ahead to a target. Nedra thinks this will keep her in the poles, improve her accuracy, and the driving will encourage better footwork. Georgie agrees... both their dogs are weaving so I'll give it a try this week. We can re-assess weaves next week. I'll post how it goes.

Kay & Zeke got the last Super Q for Zeke's USDAA ADCh title this weekend in TN. Kay is very excited and proud of their achievement. The teams needing QQ for AKC MACh titles were unsuccessful last weekend - maybe the next AKC trial. Tracey has Jedi and Josie at the USDAA trial in College Station, TX this weekend ... Jedi runs team tomorrow.
