I finished teaching obedience class for the puppies last night (I think). I'm impressed by how much they matured over the course of the session. Even our small nervous late comer, the min fox terrier Remy, was enjoying herself last night. I suggested her mom let her repeat the puppy class again (especially since it will be free) and I think she will. I kept bringing more and more agility type equipment each week so that by last night we had a circular course set up. My best agility prospect actually seems to be the small beagle.. she was running the course quite happily next to her mom. All the older dogs were trying to perform the requested obstacles with the owners and were enjoying the game aspect of the sport. Remy still needs a bit of convicing on some things.. but she has the big scary tunnel down. [The world must look very different when you only weigh 3 lbs and are that small].
Bern got out and played for a few minutes towards the end of puppy class. I then took Grace to her class. With Tracey calling we did a Novice obedience run through. Grace stood politely for Tracey on the stand for exam and showed her gritted teeth when her head was petted. Well... at least she is understanding what is going to happen and is no longer ducking or lying down. Maybe by the LCCOC show next year we can try it in the trial ring. At the obedience trial this year we are just going to do Rally Novice.. must work on all those fancy turns and cone weaving this month. Grace needs to work on her finish left too.. she ends up out of place everytime (at least she is consistent). I'm not sure if I want to enter Bern in something at the trial since he does not yet retrieve his dumbbell.
