Spring Has Sprung

While the weather was still cold I had reworked most of my roses. I moved some of the older roses that were still actively growing - others were discarded. I purchased several matching Broadway roses (non-patent variety sold bag packed) for the main rose bed. I've never tried a rose bed of one variety before so I thought the change might be fun. The older roses I moved are starting to bloom, adding much needed color to the sea of green in the backyard. Now if I can just find time to get the front beds reworked with all the seedling growing under the lights in the upstairs bath: 70+ purple cone flowers, 10 wave petunias, some zinnias that are almost too big to transplant now, and some dianthus that are too small to transplant.

Besides the ornamental flowers, there are Stark Bros fruit trees that need to be planted. The warm weather veggies are not in yet. And I didn't get the grape vine pruned before it leafed out... oh well maybe next year. At least I got the all apple trees pruned this spring. We lost the plum tree in a recent storm so I have a hole in garden which I have plugged with stacked agility equipment for the moment (okay doesn't look great but I put the space to good use).

This morning I ran tracks with both dogs. I aged Grace's 15 minutes and she did great. She is beginning to realize that the glove dispenses tuna so she stops for the tuna snack instead of tracking me back to the house like she did at the beginning. During his turn, Bern kept his nose down but his track was really short and easy. Grace then ran through the weave poles a few times and Bern did some dumbbell work. Slow improvement on both of those fronts.
