Steering for Grace (Retraining Cheryl)

Nedra was absent from the Wednesday night agility class. Georgie stepped in and came up with a class plan. We worked on various handling techniques. Grace is not working well away from me yet... she is still too handler focused and wants to right next to me. We need to work on obstacle focus. That being said..there was noticeable improvement during class. Grace was treadling with fairly good wraps towards the end of class. The whole "out" thing is still bad.

Georgie had some good ideas on getting her to focus on obstacles in her path and not keep cutting back to me. She suggested using a ball to throw for Grace to follow... okay I'm already handicapped in the coordination department (we saw this when I was trying to run Bern and throw tuna in plastic containers with holes in lid to teach him to "go on" and 'out") and now I get to go through these exercises again with Grace. Hopefully I'm up the learning curve some on running and throwing a small item in a straight line .. all at the same time. All in all I think we got several good ideas from class.

Georgie thinks I need to be more calm when I run Grace. I'm get somewhat frantic trying to keep up with her. Georgie thinks Grace will slow down just a bit and not get frustrated if I can feed her information to be timely for the speed we are running. Grace will continue to get faster as she learns the game better.

Art worked on me yesterday. As the day has progressed, the base of my neck has continued to stiffen. We did several neck extension exercises in conjunction with trying to roll my lower back and hips into a better alignment. I think this must be the source of the stiffness. The rest of me seems to be fairing well after the Art-applied therapy.
