LCCOC Obededience Trial Day 2

Day 2 of the obedience trial has come and gone. Grace made a 95 on her Rally Novice class because she herded me through part of the course. I think I was walking to fast for her. This is a new game in the obedience ring... I usually just get herded in the agility ring. I'll have to work with her to figure out the cause.

Following lunch Bern showed in Wild Card Open and then we went out for pictures. Grace was grumpy during pictures. Every time Tracey tried to get her attention to look at the camera and called her name - Grace leaned against my chest and made a grrrr noise. She proceeded to grrr for each of the photos Tracey took. Poor conflicted dog... this after she was quite happy to have the AKC rep, a man in a coat and tie, pet her on top of the head and under the chin.

Bern's showing in the Wild Card Open ring went better than yesterday. Yesterday was a 110. Today, however, he went down on his long sit. I'll have to check his score for today when I go back tomorrow. Overall I think his performance in the ring was better. I'm disappointed that he didn't make it through sits and downs. We will keep working on the exercises. I'm convinced he is capable of them.

Today Sparkle and Kazee both finished their CD titles for Tracey. Lego earned his 1st leg in Rally Advanced. After we finished showing, Tracey and I stayed on today to cheer for some of the more novice dogs and handlers in LCCOC. Monica/Lady in Wild Card Novice, and Jane/Bean in pre-Novice both came in 3rd place in their classes. Jessica/Brodie finished Brodie's CD yesterday and earned leg 2 of Rally Advanced today. Jessica's husband put her through nursing school, now it is his turn... they are moving to Louisville, Kentucky so he can begin at a Baptist seminary in the fall. We will miss Jessica/Brodie from obedience classes on Thursdays. Katherine's IGs and Whippets are continuing to improve as she remains calmer in the obedience ring. We are all looking forward to the show being over at the end of the day tomorrow... everyone is starting to tire. I'm hoping Grace can hold it together just 1 more day.
